As part of the development of 181 Mercer, NYU's new mixed-use dorm and class building, we produced a comprehensive set of images covering the street level up through the rooftop terraces. When we began work on this set, the site was already under construction and we were able to have access to it in order to shoot extensive background photography. As a result, all exterior images made use of photographic backplates and many interiors show the real view out their windows.
With so many images in the full set, we had 4 production artists working together in order to detail the building and manage post production. I've included the images which I owned, and for which I was responsible for all lighting, the majority of shading and detailing, entourage, and post production. The "ant-farm" cutaway image was originally rendered and delivered at 14,000 x 8000px, I developed the pipeline for the cutaway effect and was responsible for adding detail to all the newly exposed spaces in the building.
