We worked with SOM on a large video showcasing their redesign of the SEATAC airport international arrival terminal. The new facility covered the entire journey from disembarking the plane through customs and baggage, all the way to the streets of Seattle, and we were tasked with showing this off. We livened up the video with views of nearby Mt. Rainier, details of the new facility, and dramatic shots of the tarmac, which we worked hard to faithfully recreate with markings and ground crew.
I was one of several production artists on this project, and predominantly worked on developing shaders, including the heightmap-based rainy tarmac. I also assisted with placing details around the runways and taxiways, animated the custom actors used throughout, composed and lit many of the shots, and managed the rendering pipeline for what was at the time one of our most complicated video productions.
